Butter is a food product made by churning cream or milk and is usually salted. It is essentially fat of the milk. Colour of the butter varies from white to deep yellow. Butter is a valuable source of vitamin A. It also contains other fat soluble vitamin E, K and D. Butter can be used in cooking, for spreading, for sautéing etc. It can also be used in cake making and biscuit making enhancing the flavour and making them delicious. Butter adds gloss to baked goods and provides traditional foundation for pastry dough, pie crusts and cookies. Cultured butter, whipped butter, churned butter, flavoured butter, ghee etc are some of the different types of butter.
